Im white and my wife is Chinese. I spent the last month in China meeting my wife's family for the first time and her aunt commented on how white I am and how she wishes she could have my skin. My wife's parents also never compliment their daughter and always say things negative about her appearance even though she's really beautiful. They say stuff like her skin is too dark, her freckles are ugly, her shoulders are too rounded. My wife's least favorite part about going back home is always seeing her family again and it's not hard to understand why. It's true that every country has some stupid beauty standards, but Asian families can be really brutal about beauty standards, more-so than in western cultures.

I met my wife when she worked as a bounty hunter and she hunted me down and returned me to jail. We have now been together 49 years. !
